CAD/CAM Technology

Computer aided design and computer aided manufacturing describe the method of producing crowns and bridges using computer technology. Images of the ground teeth or fixed implants are scanned in to a computer programme (CAD) and sent to a milling centre via e-mail. The milling centre produces perfectly fitting crowns and bridges from zirconium blocks, which are then customized by a dental technician. The advantage of this method is the highest possible precision and perfect aesthetics as these structures are translucent and therefore come incomparably close to the optics of natural teeth.
